The Tone:
This is a Full-Time Summer Internship at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, located in Newport News, VA. With over 25,000 employees, Newport News Shipbuilding is the sole designer, builder, and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and a provider of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. This role allows students to gain valuable experience in their field of study, develop an understanding of the business, and could potentially lead to future full-time employment within this critical defense industry. It offers a chance to collaborate at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and integration of powerful naval ships.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Gain Experience: Work 40 hours a week for 10 consecutive weeks during the summer, applying your major to various assignments.
• Contribute: Fill technical or administrative positions, supporting the company’s operations and projects.
• Understand Business: Develop insights into Newport News Shipbuilding’s business practices and operations.
• Explore Career: Evaluate potential for future full-time employment within the organization following the internship.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be enrolled in a 4-year college/university (or 2+2 program) or master’s degree program for Fall 2027, majoring in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
• Experience: Unofficial transcripts are required when applying; failure to upload them at the time of application will result in automatic disqualification.
• Skills: A minimum GPA of 2.5 or greater is required.
