Are you an aspiring engineer or construction manager looking to gain invaluable hands-on experience in the exciting world of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)? ARB, Inc., a proud part of Primoris Services Corporation, is seeking enthusiastic and driven Summer Interns to join our dynamic project teams.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of ongoing and upcoming EPC projects, working alongside industry professionals to develop a foundational understanding of project management from conception to completion.

About the Job

As a Summer Intern at ARB, Inc., you will be an integral part of our project teams, gaining practical experience and contributing to various critical aspects of EPC projects. This role is designed for individuals who are excited to learn, grow, and apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting.

You will have the chance to assist project teams and collaborate with home office personnel in key areas such as:

  • Safety: Learning and contributing to robust safety protocols and a strong safety culture.
  • Quality: Understanding and supporting quality control processes to ensure project excellence.
  • Estimating: Gaining insights into the process of project cost estimation.
  • Cost Control: Assisting with monitoring and managing project budgets.
  • Scheduling: Learning about project timelines and supporting scheduling activities.
  • Project Execution: Participating in the practical implementation and management of project phases.

This internship provides a comprehensive overview of the EPC lifecycle, offering exposure to the complexities and challenges of large-scale construction and engineering endeavors.

Internship Curriculum Outline

Our structured internship program is designed to provide you with a holistic understanding of construction project management. The curriculum covers essential topics and practical skills, including:

  • Fundamentals of Construction Projects: A deep dive into project management principles as applied to construction.
  • Construction Management Structure: Understanding the organizational hierarchy and roles within a construction company.
  • Project Organization: Learning how projects are structured and managed from initiation to closeout.
  • Document Control Systems: Gaining proficiency in managing critical project documentation.
  • On-Site Training (if applicable): Practical, hands-on experience directly at project sites.
  • Safety and Culture: Embracing and contributing to a paramount safety-first culture.
  • Site Coordination: Understanding the logistics and coordination required for efficient site operations.
  • Project Scope: Defining and managing the boundaries and deliverables of a project.
  • Project Documentation: Creating, managing, and utilizing essential project records.
  • Quality Control: Implementing and monitoring standards to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Scheduling: Developing and tracking project timelines and critical paths.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Monitoring expenditures and managing financial aspects of projects.
  • RFIs and Submittals: Understanding the processes for Requests for Information and managing submittal documentation.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Enrollment: Actively enrolled in an accredited Undergraduate program in one of the following fields:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Construction Management
  • Demonstrated Interest: A genuine and proven interest in the construction industry.
  • Travel Capability: Ability to travel to project sites, both within California and to another state, if required.
  • Integrity & Work Ethic: Possess a high degree of integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Team Player: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with all stakeholders, including those in a global environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and an understanding of Bluebeam software.
  • Work Authorization: Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship is required.

Pay Range

$25 – $28 per hour, commensurate with skills and education.
