About the Job: Sixth Street Summer Human Capital Management Internship Program

This summer internship program is an exclusive opportunity for rising seniors to immerse themselves within Sixth Street’s Human Capital Management (HCM) team in the New York office. The HCM team plays a crucial role in supporting the firm’s strategic objectives by fostering a high-performance culture and managing the entire employee lifecycle.

Overview of the Internship Program:

This is a 10-week, hands-on internship program meticulously designed to provide interns with a robust and practical understanding of Sixth Street’s Human Capital Management functions. Interns will be part of a small, selective class that mirrors the firm’s Analyst Program, ensuring meaningful and substantive work experience.

Key responsibilities and learning opportunities include:

  • Employee Lifecycle Support: Actively support employees and managers through critical lifecycle events, including hiring, onboarding, and separation. This involves close collaboration with dedicated teams such as Recruiting, Benefits, and HCM Business Partners, providing a holistic view of HR operations.
  • Onboarding & New Hire Orientation: Take a leading role in organizing and managing onboarding and New Hire Orientation sessions for incoming employees, ensuring a seamless and positive introduction to the firm.
  • Engagement & Integration Initiatives: Execute and enhance existing programs and strategies aimed at fostering employee engagement and effectively integrating new joiners into their respective teams and the broader firm culture. This involves contributing to initiatives that build community and facilitate successful transitions.
  • Employee & Candidate Queries: Serve as a point of contact for responding to employee and candidate queries and requests, demonstrating strong problem-solving and communication skills while providing timely and accurate information.
  • Offboarding Management: Partner with HCM colleagues to manage employee exits and offboarding processes in a streamlined and thoughtful manner, ensuring compliance and a respectful conclusion to employment.

Qualifications:

Sixth Street is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background:
    • Ideally pursuing a BA/BS degree from an accredited program.
    • Must be on track to graduate in either Winter 2026 or Spring 2027, signifying readiness for a full-time role post-graduation.
  • Academic Excellence:
    • Possess an excellent academic record. Please ensure your GPA is included on your resume. A copy of your transcript may be requested for verification.
    • Applicable coursework or previous internship experience in the field of investments or financial markets is highly valued, demonstrating an understanding of the industry context in which HCM operates.
  • Professional Attributes:
    • Demonstrate an excellent work ethic and a high degree of professionalism.
    • A strong commitment to a team and goal-oriented environment.
    • Enjoys working in a collaborative and collegial environment, with enthusiasm to participate in diverse projects across multiple HCM functional areas.

Recruiting Timeline & Internship Dates:

  • Application Process: Sixth Street will be accepting applications on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.
  • Internship Dates: The program is scheduled to run from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position is expected to fall between $38.00 and $45.00 per hour. The final base pay offered will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.
