Summer Engineering Intern

Are you looking for some hands-on, real-world engineering experience? Hendrickson is searching for enthusiastic Summer Interns to join their engineering team in Woodridge, IL.

This internship offers a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience and contribute to real-world projects within a leading industry company. The salary for this position is $21.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on the student’s grade classification.

Essential Functions

Our interns will spend the summer immersing themselves in various aspects of engineering and product development. Key responsibilities and learning opportunities include:

• Becoming acclimated with industry-standard software like Unigraphics NX and TeamCenter.
• Learning standard company engineering processes and tools.
• Gaining an understanding of critical manufacturing processes such as machining, castings, and steel forming.
• Developing proficiency in reading engineering documentations and drawings.
• Understanding how engineering drawings correlate to physical fixtures.
• Gaining exposure to the validation engineering group and understanding their role in the development process.

Depending on their assigned programs, interns could see assignments consisting of:

• Collecting and analyzing data.
• Introduction to Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Fatigue calculations.
• Exposure to ride and handling dynamics.
• Vehicle dynamics analysis.
• Reliability testing.
• Statistical analysis.

Students may also spend time in our Validation’s R&D Lab doing hands-on testing if the assigned program calls for it.

Education And Training

Students who are actively pursuing an engineering degree at an accredited college or university are eligible to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for a summer internship, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be actively enrolled in an engineering degree program with an accredited college or university.
• Hold a GPA of 3.0 or better.
