### About the Job: Summer Data Science/Computer Engineering Internship – Geismar, LA

This is a Summer Data Science/Computer Engineering Internship position located in Geismar, LA. The program is designed for highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students and spans 10 to 12 weeks during the summer, with a potential start date in late May/early June 2026.

Key aspects of the internship program include:

Rotational Program: Interns will gain exposure to how data science is applied across various domains by joining production, business, and research and development teams. This allows for learning about different use-cases for data science and various problem-solving approaches.
Networking: Opportunities to build a global network with experts from diverse fields and collaborate with individuals possessing a wide range of knowledge.
Hands-on Projects: Interns will be ‘hands-on’ and have the opportunity to lead high-value projects, executing deliverables through all phases of an analytics project, from definition to completion.
Deliverables:
• Development of machine learning and optimization models.
Collaboration with other functions to gather and validate necessary data.
Presenting project results and benefits to key stakeholders and internal clients.
Communicating ideas and solutions to a broad community of non-mathematicians.
• Acting as a driving force in international and interdisciplinary project teams.
Technical Skill Development: BASF encourages taking on new challenges and growing technical skills. Interns will work with and learn various tools and technologies, including:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Academic Standing:
Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Data Science/Computer Engineering.
• Specifically, College Sophomores and Juniors (expected graduation between April 2027 and July 2028).
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without restrictions or the need for future sponsorship.
Experience & Skills:
• Demonstrated previous leadership experience and academic achievement.
Programming experience in R and Python is required for some projects.
Basic knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, and new technologies.
Active participation in extracurricular activities and on-campus organizations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Outstanding work ethic and leadership potential.
Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
