Job Description: 2026 Summer Associate Program
This program offers an immersive experience designed to give participants a realistic insight into life as an associate at Fish. It is currently accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Associate Program across U.S. office locations, excluding Chicago.
Program Overview:
The program aims to provide daily insights into the associate experience, covering everything from training programs and drafting memos to strategic discussions over working lunches, all designed to prepare participants for a future role at the firm. Participants are viewed as respected teammates.
Key Aspects & Responsibilities:
• Skills Development: Encouraged through exposure to complex client work assignments and comprehensive training.
• Work Assignments:
• Patent Prosecution Summer Associates: Primarily involve drafting patent applications.
• Patent Litigation Summer Associates: Focus on conducting research and drafting memos for litigation cases.
• Client Engagement: Opportunities may arise to attend client meetings, depositions, and even trials, providing real-world legal exposure.
• Cultural Immersion: Summer associates will have the chance to explore their office’s city and experience local culture, guided by firm attorneys.
• Firmwide Retreat: All summer associates will attend a firmwide retreat, which includes training, networking opportunities, and social activities.
• Environment & Culture: The program fosters relationships through social events, dedicated mentorship, and a relaxed firm culture.
Compensation:
The salary for the 2025 Summer Associate program was $4,327 per week.
Who They Are Looking For (Qualifications):
• Academic & Professional Excellence: A demonstrated record of high achievement in science or technology fields.
• Writing Ability: Superior writing skills are a must.
• Curiosity & Motivation: Individuals who are curious and highly motivated to understand how things work.
• Law School Status: Must be a law student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school, with an anticipated graduation date in spring 2027.
• Enthusiasm: Eagerness to embrace and rise to challenges.
• Team Orientation: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
• Specific Requirements for Patent Litigation and Patent Prosecution Positions: A scientific or technical background (evidenced by a degree and/or relevant experience), excellent academic credentials, and superior writing ability are mandatory.
