Job Description

This opportunity is for a 2026 Summer Associate Program position, designed to provide a real-life experience of an associate at Fish. It is suitable for law students with an anticipated graduation date of spring 2027 who have a passion for science, engineering, and intellectual property.

Program Overview
The program offers daily insights into the associate experience, ranging from training programs and drafting memos to strategic discussions over working lunches. It aims to prepare participants to join the firm’s ranks. Skills development is highly encouraged through complex client work assignments and dedicated training. Summer associates will be respected teammates.

Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)
Draft patent applications for patent prosecution summer associates.
Conduct research and draft memos for patent litigation cases for patent litigation summer associates.
• May have opportunities to attend client meetings, depositions, and even trials.
• Explore the office’s city and experience local culture with attorneys as guides.
• Attend the firmwide Summer Associate Retreat, which includes training, networking, and social activities.

Qualifications (Who You Are)
• Demonstrates a record of academic and professional excellence in science or technology.
• Possesses superior writing ability.
• Is curious and motivated to learn how things work.
• Is in good standing as a law student at an ABA accredited law school, with an anticipated graduation date of spring 2027.
• Shows enthusiasm and eagerness to rise to challenges.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Specific Requirements for Patent Litigation and Patent Prosecution Summer Positions
A scientific or technical background (degree and/or experience) is required, along with excellent academic credentials and superior writing ability.

Compensation
The 2025 Summer Associate Salary is stated as $4,327 per week.
