Job Description:
The Intellectual Property Group of Reed Smith LLP is seeking 2L candidates for their 2026 Summer Associate Program in their San Francisco office.
Responsibilities & Opportunities:
• Summer associates will gain a realistic experience of associate life within the firm.
• They will receive support from partner and associate mentors.
• Writing instructors will help them hone their analytical and persuasive writing skills.
• Reed Smith’s Learning & Development Summer Academy courses will supplement on-the-job training with topics including Essentials of Effective Legal Writing, AI and Practical Law Training and Effective Presentation Skills.
• Social activities will provide opportunities to connect with colleagues and summer associate classmates.
Required Qualifications:
• Current resume, cover letter, law school transcript (unofficial acceptable), and legal writing sample must be submitted with the application.
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biological Sciences, or Chemistry.
• Ideal applicant will have a degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
• Experience in patent litigation is preferred.

Compensation:
• $4,327 per week.
