About Company:

Reed Smith LLP is seeking exceptional 2L candidates for their 2026 Summer Associate Program in the Houston office, specifically for the Intellectual Property Group.

Job Description:

Position: 2026 Summer Associate (Intellectual Property Group)
Location: Houston, TX
Group: Intellectual Property
Responsibilities:
• Gain a realistic snapshot of associate life at Reed Smith.
• Develop skills and knowledge necessary for a successful legal career.
• Receive support from partner and associate mentors.
• Receive guidance from writing instructors to hone analytical and persuasive writing skills.
• Participate in Reed Smith’s Learning & Development Summer Academy courses, covering topics such as:
• Essentials of Effective Legal Writing
• AI and Practical Law Training
• Effective Presentation Skills
• Participate in social activities to get to know future colleagues and summer associate classmates.
Qualifications:
• Currently a 2L law student.
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biological Sciences, or Chemistry.
Ideal applicant: Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Preferred experience in patent litigation.
• Strong academic credentials and varied experiences.
• Participation in law school activities (Law Review, Moot Court, etc.).
• Strength of character, outstanding personal skills, demonstrated leadership and teamwork, a hunger for self-development, intellectual curiosity, and a good sense of humor.
• Demonstrated initiative in building skill set above and beyond the classroom.
• Valued: Community contributions, work experience, and demonstrated initiative.
Compensation: $4,327 per week.
Visa Sponsorship: This position is not available to candidates who will now or in the future require a U.S. visa from the firm (H-1B, TN-1, TN-2, or E-3).
