A Typical Day: Hilmar Cheese Company Summer Advantage Internship
At Hilmar Cheese Company, we offer a 10-week paid, skill-enriching, innovation-generating summer advantage internship. Our interns are expected to innovate, collaborate, and deliver. We count on our interns to bring fresh ideas and take ownership of exciting ongoing projects.
As an intern at our Hilmar, CA site, you will be exposed to real-life business situations and will work on projects alongside our experienced employees. Your summer with Hilmar Cheese will be comprehensive, including dairy visits, community projects, and even a chance to pick the brain of our senior leaders. You will gain invaluable insight into how we create wholesome dairy products, systems, and services that improve lives around the world.

Position Responsibilities
- Improvement of a specific process, product line, or function within one or more of the cheese or whey plants.
- Identification of opportunities to reduce the cost of production for a specific product or production line.
- Identification of the causes of waste within one or more manufacturing processes and recommendations for actions to eliminate the waste.
- Development of standard work processes to implement and sustain identified improvement opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of Sophomore year at a college or university and working towards a degree in:
- Engineering
- Operations Management
- Manufacturing
- Business
- Food Science
- Dairy Science
- Ag Management/Science
- Basic knowledge of MS Office products: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.

The working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
