Job Description: Summer 2026 Student Nurse Internship
Overview
This is a Summer 2026 Student Nurse Internship designed for passionate nursing students eager to gain practical, hands-on experience and make a tangible impact in patient care. • Hours per Week: Flexible, ranging from a minimum of 24 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
• Duration: 10-week hourly paid position.

Internship Objectives
The program focuses on helping interns achieve the following key objectives:
• Build strong professional relationships with clinical team members.
• Gain confidence in performing technical nursing skills.
• Develop crucial clinical judgment skills and enhance priority setting abilities.
Transition to Nurse Residency Program
Interns who successfully complete this program will be considered preferred candidates for the UnityPoint at Home Nurse Residency Program. This residency program involves a commitment to work one year (12 months) in a full-time status as a Registered Nurse at UnityPoint at Home. As an incentive, the cost of NCLEX prep course and testing will be reimbursed by UnityPoint at Home if the intern commits to the Nurse Residency Program.
Qualifications (Prerequisites)
To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Current enrollment in an accredited ADN, BSN, or Accelerated Program. This specifically includes students entering the 4th year of a BSN Program or those in their last 2 terms of an ADN program.
• Current LPNs who are enrolled in an ADN or BSN program are also eligible.
• A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Possession of a current AHA or Red Cross Card for the Professional Provider.
• Possession of a current mandatory reporter certification.
• All interns are required to be enrolled in a nursing course during the entire duration of the internship.
