a16z Crypto Research Internship
a16z Crypto Research is a multidisciplinary lab that combines academic theory and industry practice to advance the science and technology of the next generation of the internet. Their work includes:
• Fundamental research: Exploring topics related to blockchains and web3.
• Collaboration with portfolio companies: Solving technical and conceptual challenges.
Internship Responsibilities:
• Pursue fundamental research: Collaborating with other lab members on topics relevant to the firm.
• Collaborate with full-time researchers and other interns: Contribute to a collaborative research environment.
• Collaborate with portfolio companies: Contribute to technical research on real-world problems.
• Contribute to public content: Write blog posts, white papers, etc.
• Engage with industry professionals: Attend seminars and meet with visitors from academia and industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a PhD program: In a relevant field like computer science, economics, mathematics, operations research, political science, etc. (Exceptional masters and undergraduate students may be considered).
• Passionate about blockchains and Web3: Strong understanding of underlying technologies.
• Experience with fundamental research: Proven ability to conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
Internship Details:
• Schedule: Split between individual research, portfolio company collaboration, and industry engagement.
• Location: In-person residency in New York, NY.
• Duration: May 27, 2025 – August 15, 2025 (minimum 10 weeks, maximum 12 weeks).
• Compensation: Anticipated weekly rate of $4,500 per week (actual rate may vary).
