About the Packaging R&D Team
The Packaging R&D team is responsible for the development and commercialization of packaging materials and specifications for Exclusive Brand products across various categories.
This team collaborates closely with other key departments, including:
• Packaging sourcing
• Print specialists
• Product commercialization
• Sourcing
Intern Responsibilities
The internship program offers diverse opportunities for interns to contribute to the team’s goals. Potential responsibilities include:
• Packaging consolidation: Conducting research and development work.
• E-Halo Spec Maintenance Support: Assisting with maintaining specifications for online platforms.
• Packaging Comparison Research: Analyzing and comparing packaging options for specific projects.
• Supporting Store Walks, Packaging Briefs, and Project Scope Meetings: Providing assistance and insights during these meetings.
• Supporting other Whole Foods Market projects as needed: Contributing to various initiatives within the company.
• Participating in projects and shadowing meetings related to Packaging: Gaining valuable experience and knowledge about packaging operations.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates for this internship will possess the following qualities:
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities: Demonstrating strong time management skills.
• Detail-oriented and extremely organized: Maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency in their work.
• Excellent communication skills: Effectively communicating with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to excel in cross-functional team settings: Collaborating effectively with diverse teams.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications: Utilizing common software tools for tasks.
Education & Experience
The internship program seeks students with:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed (within the past year) a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Packaging, Material Science, or Industrial Engineering. This educational background is preferred but not mandatory.
Internship Program Details
• Duration: 10 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week)
• Dates: June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025
• Location: Austin, Texas (not open to remote candidates)
• Compensation: Paid internship
• Application Review: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting in September and October 2024.
