About Hermeus
Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company dedicated to revolutionizing air travel by developing hypersonic aircraft. Their goal is to achieve this through a rapid and cost-effective approach that combines hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy.
Hermeus has already validated their approach with the design, build, and testing of their first combined turbojet-ramjet engine. They are currently scaling this success through their first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Additionally, they are developing Darkhorse, an unmanned hypersonic aircraft designed to provide unique tactical capabilities to the military.
Job Description
Hermeus is seeking talented students to join their team in Atlanta or Los Angeles for the Summer 2025 semester. As a full-time paid intern, you will contribute to Hermeus’ development strategy for a duration of approximately 12-16 weeks (May – August).
Responsibilities:
Your specific responsibilities will depend on your expertise and the team’s needs. However, you will be involved in tasks ranging from:
• Engineering: Owning propulsion components, building and commissioning test stands, designing and fabricating harnesses, conducting thermal and structural analysis, writing flight software, designing PCBs, and integrating aircraft systems.
• Other Areas: You may also contribute to areas such as aerodynamics, avionics, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), manufacturing, propulsion, software, structures, or testing.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Engineering Candidates: Hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing vehicles is essential.
• All Candidates: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (Undergraduate, Master’s, or Ph.D. program).
• Engineering Candidates: A strong understanding of engineering first principles is required.
• All Candidates: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
• All Candidates: Passion for aviation and Hermeus’ mission.
• All Candidates: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• All Candidates: GPA of 3.0 or above.
