What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Deliver personalized, 1-on-1 online tutoring sessions focused on study skills and organization, utilizing the Live Learning Platform.
• Educate: Explain and apply evidence-based study methods, learning science principles, and metacognitive awareness to help students improve academic performance across all subjects.
• Guide: Facilitate student development of critical academic habits, including creating study schedules, implementing effective note-taking (e.g., Cornell or outline methods), preparing for examinations with active recall, and organizing both physical and digital materials.
• Adapt: Implement adaptive instruction using various planner systems, study technique demonstrations, and habit-building frameworks tailored to support students from middle school through college in developing sustainable academic routines.
• Administer: Manage and invoice for tutoring sessions conducted, leveraging Varsity Tutors’ system for reliable and timely compensation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in effective study techniques, including spaced repetition, active recall, note-taking methods, time management, goal setting, test preparation strategies, organizational systems, reading comprehension strategies, and academic planning.
• Experience: Proven ability to teach study habit development, organizational system implementation, and academic planning strategies. Experience guiding students through creating academic routines and fostering self-directed learning skills, while addressing common challenges like procrastination.
• Skills: Strong conceptual teaching abilities to connect study skills to long-term academic success and lifelong learning. Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles. Excellent communication skills coupled with a friendly and engaging teaching style.
