Welser Profile is looking for a high school student, preferably enrolled in a trade school curriculum, to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a manufacturing environment while learning valuable skills related to roll forming operations.

About the Job:

This role provides an introductory experience to various aspects of roll forming and manufacturing operations. As an intern/student worker, you will be exposed to different departments and functions within the company, learning from experienced technicians and managers.

Key Learning Areas:

Mill Entry Systems: Understanding how materials enter the roll forming process.
Packaging: Learning the basic procedures for packaging finished products.
Product Quality: Developing an understanding of quality standards, quality checks, identifying defects, and containment procedures.
ERP/SAP and Technical Skills: Introduction to ERP/SAP systems, blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), eddy current technology, and control systems (PLCs).
Value Stream and Management: Learning about material flow, scheduling, people leadership, and inventory management within a value stream.
Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement: Introduction to lean manufacturing principles, including 5S methodology.
Safety and Quality: Ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
Quality Systems: Performing assigned quality system functions as specified in QMS procedures.
EHS Regulations: Observing established EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) regulations, procedures, and practices.

Responsibilities:

• Shadowing Entry Line Operators, Production Associates, Mill Technicians, and the Area Manager.
• Assisting other departments as required.
• Performing assigned quality system functions.
• Observing established EHS regulations.

Hours and Schedule:

• A minimum of 15 hours per week is required.
• The schedule is flexible to accommodate the individual’s school schedule.

Physical Requirements:

• The work environment has a moderate to high noise level, so hearing protection is required.
• The position involves occasional exposure to fumes, coolant, or airborne particles, and working near moving mechanical parts.
• You must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• The job requires excessive walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, grasping, and lifting.
• The ability to visually inspect parts and use measuring gauges is necessary.
• The ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
