Job Description
This is for a Per Diem Student Nurse Tech position at St Vincents Medical Center (10427). The role requires working one holiday a year and following Per Diem requirements. It is an In Person work location.

Summary:
The Student Nurse Technician, under the supervision of a Nurse Leader and direction of a Registered Nurse, performs specific duties supporting patient care. This includes direct and indirect patient care activities crucial for a safe and efficient care environment. The position involves selected interventions and activities that contribute to comprehensive patient care, adhering to regulatory and hospital standards. Along with the care team, the Student Nurse Tech is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience. This role operates in a high-activity work environment with multiple priorities and requires flexibility in scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assists the RN and nursing care team by performing nursing care measures contributing to daily patient care management.
• Upholds infection prevention standards.
• Performs and assists with direct patient care: bathing, grooming, oral/denture care, perineal care, toileting, elimination, feeding, positioning, repositioning, and ambulation.
• Performs interventions: specimen collection, urinary catheter care, Point of Care Testing.
• Obtains and records vital signs using the electronic medical record.
• Assists in maintaining a clinical environment that is clean, safe, and free from clutter.
• Reports deviations and changes in patient status in a timely manner to the RN.
• Performs EKG and/or Phlebotomy duties based on assigned unit, hospital, and/or need.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
• Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English (required).
• Current enrollment in an accredited ASN or BSN Nursing program and in good academic standing (required).
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date (required).
• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Acute care experience as a nursing assistant (preferred).
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (preferred).
• EPIC experience (preferred).
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use skillful communication with members of the healthcare delivery team and with patients, fostering a healthy work environment and positive patient outcomes/experience.
• Ability to read and understand medical terminology.
• Phlebotomy technology skills.
• 12 Lead EKG/telemetry lead placement skills.
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in time management, resources, and use of supplies.
• Ability to manage time and productivity without immediate supervision.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
