Interns will immerse themselves in the actual duties and responsibilities assigned to professional employees, thereby gaining practical skills and a deeper understanding of public sector operations and their chosen professional vocation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Daily Support: Assist and participate in the day-to-day assigned work of professional employees across various County departments.
• Research & Analysis: Contribute to special research, studies, surveys, and investigations, including the compilation, tabulation, and analysis of information and data.
• Report Preparation: Assist in the development and preparation of briefs, reports, evaluations, specifications, and plans for departmental projects.
• Meeting Participation: Attend divisional and departmental staff meetings, preparing reports of suggestions and comments based on observations regarding department programs.
• Sub-professional Assistance: Perform sub-professional assignments that support the work of professional staff members within the assigned department.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5. Eligibility requires current enrollment in, or recent graduation (within one year from the graduation date) from, an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited college or university in a program relevant to the specific internship. Certain positions may necessitate current enrollment in an accredited graduate school program. Proof of the most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be submitted with the application.
• Experience: Candidates should possess knowledge of the core goals and functions pertaining to the specific profession to which they are assigned. This role emphasizes benefiting and learning rapidly from on-the-job training through active participation in professional duties.
• Skills: Essential abilities include taking direction and supervision effectively, demonstrating logical thinking, and communicating clearly and concisely in written form. Interns must also be able to compile data, perform arithmetical computations, analyze statistical data, prepare comprehensive reports, learn to operate specialized equipment, and maintain cooperative relations with co-workers and the public.
