The Tone:
This is an internship at Michael Baker International, located in Boston (Waltham), MA, with optional hybrid work. Michael Baker International is a recognized architecture practice and leading engineering and consulting services provider, known for delivering holistic, sustainable, and innovative solutions to complex infrastructure challenges worldwide. This role is crucial for supporting our Structural Engineers by assisting with critical tasks on vertical structural projects, contributing to making communities safer, more accessible, more sustainable, and more prosperous.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Assist Structural Engineers with critical tasks on vertical structural projects to contribute to holistic and innovative solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engineering Analysis: Assist in completing engineering analysis for structural components.
• Design Support: Support the creation of design drawings and details for projects.
• Construction Review: Potentially review shop drawings to ensure construction accuracy.
• Administration: Perform other construction administration tasks relevant to an engineering office.
• Problem Resolution: Resolve most problems encountered with guidance, working under close supervision.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University, with a basic understanding of design principles for structural steel, concrete, and masonry components.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of completed schooling towards the degree.
• Skills: Minimum 3.0 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale; Proficiency in the latest versions of MS Office Suite.
• Bonus: Experience with structural analysis and design software such as Enercalc, RAM, ETABS, RISA, Tekla Tedds, and Mathcad; Basic knowledge of Revit.
