What We’re Looking For
Michael Baker International is seeking a Structural Intern (Summer 2026) to join our Boston (Waltham), MA office. The successful candidate will play a supporting role to our Structural Engineers, assisting with critical tasks on vertical (buildings) structural projects.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in completing engineering analysis for structural components.
- Support the creation of design drawings and details.
- Potentially review shop drawings for construction accuracy.
- Perform other construction administration tasks relevant to an engineering office.
- Work under close supervision, with most problems encountered resolved with guidance.
What You Need To Succeed
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University.
- Minimum of 3 years of completed schooling towards the degree.
- Basic understanding of the design principles for structural steel, concrete, and masonry components.
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficiency in the latest versions of MS Office Suite.
- Availability for in-office or optional hybrid work (minimum 3 days in office).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as Enercalc, RAM, ETABS, RISA, Tekla Tedds, and Mathcad.
- Basic knowledge of Revit.
Compensation
The approximate compensation range for this position is $18 – $25 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
