Job Description: Strategic Technology Planning Intern
This is a 12-week paid summer internship within HP’s Personal Systems division, focusing on Commercial Systems. The internship offers a balance of networking, executive speaker events, community involvement, and project work. The team’s work centers around three pillars:
• Advancing leadership in Computing: Developing laptops, desktops, business PCs, gaming PCs, Chromebooks, and more.
• Creating leadership in Peripherals: Producing monitors, docks, webcams, keyboards, mice, and gaming gear (following the acquisitions of HyperX and Poly).
• Expanding Digital Services: Providing services to support hybrid workforces, addressing remote work challenges, leveraging acquisitions like Teradici.
Responsibilities:
As a Strategic Technology Planning Intern, you will:
• Evaluate current and future technologies for human interface devices (input methods for electronic devices).
• Gather insights and recommendations from customers and research to predict the direction of the field in the next 3-5 years.
• Develop recommendations for future products that enhance the customer input experience.
Requirements:
• Completion of the first year of a Master’s/MBA program (non-technical specialization).
• Full-time enrollment at an accredited university.
• Engineering or Computer Science background preferred.
• Business Planning, Business Strategy, or Marketing major preferred.
• Understanding of fundamental computer technology and MS Office.
• Familiarity with current human interface devices and technology.
• Experience with business case analysis and forecasting.
• Customer-oriented approach and strong customer interaction skills.
• Future-thinking mindset.
• Creativity and the ability to combine technology, customer needs, and business cases to form recommendations.
Note: This internship is intended for conversion to a full-time role, but work authorization sponsorship is not offered. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without needing future sponsorship.
