Job Description: Strategic Finance Internship

The Strategic Finance department at Kapitus seeks an intern to contribute to in-depth financial analysis, portfolio performance monitoring, and macroeconomic forecasting. This role offers significant exposure to econometrics, portfolio management, and macroeconomic analysis, working closely with experienced professionals. The internship focuses on portfolio analytics, requiring understanding of economic conditions, competitor behavior, and Kapitus’ portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Econometric Modeling for Business Cycle Analysis: Develop and refine models assessing key economic variables (GDP growth, inflation, unemployment) and their impact on the business. Regularly update model performance and provide insights on the business cycle stage.
Portfolio Performance Forecasting by Industry: Utilize econometric models to forecast portfolio performance across various industries. Analyze industry performance within the macroeconomic environment and its effects on Kapitus’ loan book.
Banking and Alternative Lending Analysis: Analyze trends in bank lending (loan issuance, interest rates, lending volumes) and assess the impact of alternative lending platforms on market dynamics and Kapitus’ competitive position.
Ad-Hoc Requests: Respond to analytical needs, synthesize data into actionable insights, and contribute to various projects as required.

Data Analysis and Modeling:

The role involves using R for data analysis, including data manipulation, statistical testing, and model creation. Experience with econometric models, forecasting techniques, and time-series analysis/financial modeling is a plus. The intern will build and refine econometric models to predict market trends and support decision-making. They will create forecasts based on industry trends and macroeconomic factors and deliver regular progress reports with actionable insights and recommendations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in R for data analysis.
• Understanding of econometric models and forecasting techniques.
• Highly analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong desire to learn about macroeconomics, the lending industry, and financial analysis.
• Ability to perform detailed and accurate data analysis.
• Experience with time-series analysis or financial modeling (a plus).
• Understanding of macroeconomics, financial services, and portfolio management (helpful but not required).
