Job Description:

GE Vernova Gas Power Engineering is offering a unique STEPS (Student Technology & Engineering Program Switzerland). This internship provides exposure to various engineering disciplines and insights into different fields, allowing you to gain real-world experience, learn hands-on, and collaborate with industry experts shaping the future of energy. You will have the chance to visit GE Vernova sites in Switzerland and France, witnessing innovation firsthand through facility tours and real-world applications. Enhance your professional network by connecting with GE Vernova leaders, engineers, and fellow interns, and participate in workshops, technical training, and professional development sessions designed to prepare you for future career opportunities.

As an intern with the Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) team within the Gas Power Customer Service organization, you will have the opportunity to engage in predictive services that utilize real-time data intelligence, empowering our customers to make informed decisions and maintain optimal fleet performance.

You will be working with the Remote Combustion Tuning team, which plays a critical role in guiding projects and customers through combustion adjustments to enhance operational reliability and ensure compliance with emissions standards. This internship offers a unique chance to support the optimization of data acquisition and processing tools, while embracing GE Vernova’s culture of continuous improvement with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

The existing suite of Excel-based VBA tools, developed over more than two decades by various engineers, serves a crucial role in managing and optimizing Gas Turbine operations. These tools are designed for data processing, display, and the calculation of operational parameters, such as firing temperatures, which support remote combustion parameter adjustments. Originally coded by non-expert programmers, these tools require a comprehensive review to ensure technical accuracy and to be updated to align with current programming standards.

Deliverables:

• Review our current VBA tools and suggest ways to improve how they work and perform
• Learn about Gas Turbine operation and help ensure any changes we make keep them running smoothly or even better
• Help us update our tools using new programming languages and techniques to make them work more efficiently and be easier to use
