GE Vernova is offering an internship within the Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) team within the Gas Power Customer Service organization. As an intern, you will be part of the Remote Combustion Tuning team, supporting the optimization of data acquisition and processing tools, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
The STEPS (Student Technology & Engineering Program Switzerland) at GE Vernova Gas Power Engineering is a program to gain real-world experience, learn hands-on, and collaborate with industry experts shaping the future of energy. Problem statement:
The existing suite of Excel-based VBA tools, developed over more than two decades by various engineers, serves a crucial role in managing and optimizing Gas Turbine operations. These tools are designed for data processing, display, and the calculation of operational parameters, such as firing temperatures, which support remote combustion parameter adjustments. Originally coded by non-expert programmers, these tools require a comprehensive review to ensure technical accuracy and to be updated to align with current programming standards.
Deliverables:
• Review the current VBA tools and suggest ways to improve how they work and perform.
• Learn about Gas Turbine operation and help ensure any changes that are made keep them running smoothly or even better.
• Help update the tools using new programming languages and techniques to make them work more efficiently and be easier to use.
Required Qualifications:
• Engineering university background, preferably in a mechanical or energy field
• Demonstrate ability to work in a team and proactive attitude
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Affinity to coding and programing languages, data handling including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence, Visual Basic, Python
• Fluent in English
