Staff Accountant, Sales & Marketing | A+E Global Media

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at A+E Global Media, located in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, or Stamford, CT, with an in-office hybrid model three times per week. A+E Global Media is a joint venture of the Hearst Corporation and The Walt Disney Company, dedicated to delivering great entertainment. This role is crucial within the Finance department, ensuring the business operates smoothly by supporting financial operations, meticulous budget management, and timely month-end close activities for the Sales & Marketing business areas. Your work will directly contribute to financial accuracy and provide data that helps leadership make informed decisions.

• Mission: Support day-to-day accounting and month-end close activities for the Sales & Marketing business areas, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accrual Management: Collect and review monthly accrual submissions from Sales & Marketing budget managers.
• Journal Entry Processing: Prepare and process approximately 40–60 journal entries with accuracy each month, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries.
• Documentation Maintenance: Maintain organized support files and documentation within shared drives and OneDrive folders.
• Reporting Support: Support the preparation of monthly operating expense and G&A schedules for review by the Senior Accountant and Manager.
• Reconciliation Assistance: Assist with balance sheet account reconciliations and the preparation of related documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience is preferred; experience with SAP, Concur, or similar accounting systems is also preferred.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency; high organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple assignments and meet close deadlines; effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Shortcut AI is preferred.
