Staff Accountant | Orion Placement

The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role with a hybrid schedule, based in Graham, NC. What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Preparation: Prepare individual and business tax returns, working closely with senior team members for guidance and quality assurance.
• Tax Engagements: Assist in various tax planning and compliance engagements to ensure adherence to current regulations.
• General Ledger Management: Accurately maintain general ledger accounts and contribute to the preparation of comprehensive financial statements.
• Account Reconciliation: Conduct thorough account reconciliations and proactively resolve any identified discrepancies to ensure data integrity.
• Client Communication: Engage professionally with clients to gather necessary financial information and provide clear documentation, maintaining strong client relationships.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the wider team to deliver precise and timely client work across all accounting engagements.
• Software Utilization: Efficiently utilize accounting software, Excel, and cloud-based platforms to streamline workflow and complete tasks.
• Deadline Management: Manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously, consistently demonstrating exceptional attention to detail in all tasks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), proficiency in general ledger accounting, and the ability to contribute to financial statement preparation.
• Experience: At least one year of accounting experience, with a strong preference for background in public accounting; proven experience in preparing tax returns for individuals and/or businesses; and holding an active CPA license or actively working towards CPA certification.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with essential tools like Excel and various accounting software; strong analytical capabilities to interpret financial data; excellent organizational skills to manage diverse tasks; clear and professional communication skills for both team and client interactions; and the ability to adeptly manage multiple priorities while upholding high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree specifically in Accounting or a closely related field.
