The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role at Soni, supporting the accounting for live events and commercial activities. This position is vital for ensuring that financial information generated by operational teams and various business systems is accurately reflected in the company’s financial records. The role offers broad exposure across the accounting cycle, including month-end close, revenue and expense recognition, account analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting support, making it critical for maintaining financial integrity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Take ownership of assigned general ledger accounts and support monthly schedules for accurate financial representation.
• Execute: Prepare and post journal entries as a core component of the monthly accounting close process.
• Analyze: Review business activity to determine the appropriate timing and classification of revenue and expenses.
• Investigate: Compare information across various systems to identify and research unmatched, duplicated, or incorrectly recorded transactions.
• Reconcile: Prepare detailed account reconciliations with clear supporting documentation and explanations for any outstanding items.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a solid understanding of accrual accounting and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience: At least 2 years of accounting experience in a corporate or similar environment, including preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and participating in month-end close. ERP experience is required.
• Skills: Strong Excel capabilities, particularly with pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis; ability to work through large volumes of financial data; strong investigative skills to follow financial activity from source to ledger; organized and detail-oriented.
• Bonus: Familiarity with NetSuite; previous exposure to revenue, inventory, cost accounting, or transaction-intensive businesses; experience within entertainment, events, sports, hospitality, or media industries.
