Summer Staff Accountant Intern | Novogradac

What You’ll Actually Do
• Complete client engagements: Complete tax and/or audit engagements for designated clients as directed by your Supervisor or Manager.
• Identify issues: Identify and communicate potential problem areas during engagements.
• Conduct research: Conduct business-specific research – gather and analyze data, interpret results, compile reports and make recommendations to principals and partners.
• Build relationships: Develop effective client relationships through professionalism and follow-through.
• Handle assigned projects: Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should be working toward a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance, or possess an appropriate balance of education and work experience.
• Experience: A minimum GPA of 3.20 or higher is required. Preferred qualifications include completion of at least one Intermediate Accounting course.
• Skills: Exhibit a basic understanding of accounting and tax rules. Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, perform work accurately and efficiently with strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through. The ability to work under close supervision, accept constructive feedback, and make adjustments as directed is essential, as is the capacity to work collaboratively and foster a productive, team-oriented environment with colleagues and clients. Strong computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite (Word & Excel) and report writing tools, are also necessary.
• Bonus: Being on track or already qualified to sit for the CPA examination is preferred. An obtained degree in accounting or finance is also a plus.
