Staff Accountant | Lithko Contracting

The Tone:

The Staff Accountant I position is crucial for executing foundational accounting activities that ensure accurate financial records, support reliable reporting, and lay the groundwork for future accounting responsibilities within the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Close Execution: Prepare routine and standard journal entries, workpapers, and supporting schedules that directly contribute to an accurate and timely financial close. This includes completing assigned month-end close activities according to established timelines and assisting with variance analysis by compiling supporting information.
• Account Reconciliation & Resolution: Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations using established procedures and resolve straightforward discrepancies. This also involves maintaining documentation supporting journal entries and reconciliations while researching routine accounting questions and elevating exceptions appropriately.
• Financial Documentation & Control: Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation for reporting, audit readiness, and internal control. This includes compiling requested documentation for internal and external audits, following internal control procedures for assigned accounting activities, and assisting with compliance reporting and documentation requests.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with accounting teammates and internal business partners to gather information, research routine accounting questions, and resolve routine accounting questions. Support intercompany and multi-entity accounting activities as assigned, fostering strong internal partnerships and participating in close process improvements.
• Professional Development & Growth: Build technical accounting knowledge through progressively more complex assignments and exposure across multiple accounting disciplines. This involves developing proficiency in the company’s ERP, BlackLine, and financial reporting tools, expanding knowledge of GAAP and company accounting policies, and participating in cross-training opportunities and special projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. This is an early career position with a foundational understanding of GAAP and financial statements.
• Experience: 1–2 years of accounting experience or applicable internship experience.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ability to organize work, prioritize multiple assignments, meet established deadlines, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
