Staff Accountant – Emerging Markets | Fanatics

The Tone:
This is an early career accounting role at Fanatics. The company, a 22,000-person global digital sports platform, ignites fan passions across Commerce, Collectibles, and Betting & Gaming for over 100 million fans and 900 partners. This role is crucial for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of Fanatics’ prediction markets platform and other emerging business lines. The Staff Accountant ensures accurate and timely financial statements by executing key month-end close processes, preparing journal entries, and reconciliations across multiple legal entities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepares and posts journal entries as a key part of the month-end close process.
• Maintain: Maintains the general ledger and ensures all transactions are accurately recorded across multiple legal entities.
• Reconcile: Prepares balance sheet reconciliations and ensures the timely resolution of any identified reconciling items.
• Support: Supports the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Assist: Assists in the preparation of regulatory filings for the NFA, CFTC, and other governing bodies, and monitors the reporting calendar.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, with a solid working knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles. This is an early-career role.
• Experience: Requires 1–3 years of accounting experience. Recent graduates who possess relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Demonstrates proficiency in Excel, maintains strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, and possesses strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Bonus: CPA candidate preferred, with active progress toward CPA a plus. Experience with ERP or other accounting systems is also a plus.
