Staff Accountant | Four Corners Property Trust

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Four Corners Property Trust, located in Mill Valley, CA. FCPT is a publicly traded net-lease REIT that manages approximately 1,400 properties. This Staff Accountant position is critical to the corporate accounting team, providing hands-on experience across the monthly close process, cash activity, accounts payable, and general ledger support. The role is important for ensuring accurate financial operations and contributing to the company’s financial reporting cycle as FCPT continues to grow.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Close Support: Partner with the Senior Accountant and Financial Reporting Manager to perform the monthly close of corporate activities and support the financial reporting process.
• Cash and AP Management: Record daily cash, credit card, and intercompany transactions, and assist in managing vendors and accounts payable to ensure timely payment and proper expense recognition.
• Account Reconciliation & Ledger Maintenance: Dive into account reconciliations, maintain prepaid asset balances and amortization schedules, process monthly cash reconciliations, and post journal entries to reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to operational excellence by identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve data quality, and assist with system implementations and documentation updates.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Maintain ongoing collaboration with Treasury, Property Accounting, Property Management, and other internal teams to ensure transactions are captured appropriately in the financial statements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (or expected graduation in 2027), or equivalent work experience, with a basic understanding of financial accounting principles.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience in accounts payable or corporate accounting.
• Skills: Proficiency in Excel, strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, positive attitude, self-starter, and eagerness to learn.
• Bonus: CPA candidate preferred, exposure to retail real estate, familiarity with MRI or other real estate accounting software.
