CAAS Staff Accountant | Ascend

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Tronconi Segarra & Associates (TSA), a partner firm within the Ascend platform, located in Buffalo, NY. Ascend is building a dynamic platform for regional accounting firms, providing growth capital, talent acquisition, technology, and other resources to help them expand and meet industry challenges. TSA is a leading accounting and advisory firm in Western New York, serving diverse clients across various industries, and this role supports their rapidly growing Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality accounting services, supporting advisory engagements, and helping clients manage their financial operations to make confident business decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Delivery: Prepare and maintain client financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements, adhering to established processes.
• Advisory Support: Translate financial data into actionable insights and support projects related to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Process Improvement: Utilize cloud-based accounting platforms and workflow tools to deliver efficient client service and identify opportunities for process and client efficiency improvements.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members across service lines, taking ownership of tasks and proactively engaging in problem-solving and inquiry.
• Professional Growth: Receive mentorship and training from experienced professionals, pursuing expanded responsibilities through continuous learning and development.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; early-level career stage.
• Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience, with a preference for public accounting, outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, or finance environments. Experience with month-end close, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation is preferred.
• Skills: Intellectual curiosity with an eagerness to master new processes, effective documentation and clear communication of complex information, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, public accounting experience, proficiency with QuickBooks, Odoo, SAGE.
