Staff Accountant | CSC Generation

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid Staff Accountant role at CSC Generation, operating under the Backcountry brand, located in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with required in-office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This position is vital to a rebuilding accounting team, offering the opportunity to own core month-end close work, including journal entries, reconciliations, and managing the revenue and cash cycle across multi-channel platforms. The role provides full end-to-end responsibility in a lean team environment, making individual contributions visible and valued from day one.

• Team: Reports to a Senior Accountant (with the VP of Accounting, Richie Stevens, as interim manager) within a lean, rebuilding accounting team.
• Mission: Execute and streamline core month-end close work, including journal entries, reconciliations, and managing the revenue and cash cycle across multi-channel platforms.
• Tech Stack: NetSuite, Excel, AI tools, automation, Looker (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entry and Accrual Management: Prepare and post all necessary journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as a core part of the monthly close checklist, gathering supporting documentation from various teams.
• Comprehensive Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, commercial card statements, and multi-channel customer payment platforms to ensure accuracy.
• Revenue and Cash Cycle Ownership: Own the complete revenue and cash cycle across all payment channels, meticulously ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Financial Data Analysis: Pull and analyze NetSuite data to support accurate reporting and conduct thorough variance analysis.
• Process Streamlining and Project Support: Identify and streamline manual accounting processes using AI tools or automation, while also supporting acquisition integration, internal controls, and other team projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a solid understanding of US GAAP fundamentals, including accruals and account reconciliations.
• Experience: 0 to 3 years of public or corporate accounting experience, including internships, demonstrating the ability to work with accuracy under tight deadlines and juggle multiple priorities during month-end close.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency, comfortable working with large data sets; strong written, verbal, and analytical capabilities; and a genuine curiosity about incorporating AI into accounting workflows.
• Bonus: Experience with Oracle NetSuite or another ERP system, a public accounting background (audit or tax), multi-entity or consolidated accounting experience, exposure to Looker or other BI tools, or retail/e-commerce industry experience.
