The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Addison Group, recruiting for a client located in Alexandria, VA, with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in office. This position supports the finance team of a client company. This Staff Accountant role is critical for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting operations, and contributing to reliable financial reporting. The ideal candidate will provide essential support across general accounting activities and month-end close processes within a structured and collaborative environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger: Perform day-to-day General Ledger accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and supported.
• Reconciliations: Complete monthly bank and account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Close Processes: Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and other general accounting activities.
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist with financial reporting, account analysis, and supporting schedules.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Core domain knowledge in General Ledger accounting.
• Experience: 1+ year of accounting experience, specifically hands-on General Ledger accounting. Experience preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations, along with exposure to month-end close activities.
• Skills: Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems or ERP platforms, coupled with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Bonus: Accounting degree preferred.
