The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Venteon, representing a growing, large manufacturing company located in the Metro Detroit area. This organization is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join its finance team, aiming to attract a high performer to an equally high-performing environment. This position is critical for supporting the accurate preparation of financial statements and ensuring the integrity of the accounting close process. The Staff Accountant will play a foundational role in maintaining financial compliance and contributing to the overall financial health of the company, working within a collaborative team structure.
The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Detroit Metropolitan Area
• Mission: Own the accurate preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations to support the month-end close process effectively.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare Journal Entries: Accurately prepare and post a variety of journal entries, ensuring all financial transactions are correctly recorded in the general ledger to maintain the integrity of financial data.
• Perform Account Reconciliations: Conduct detailed and timely account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies to support a precise and efficient month-end close process.
• Assist with Consolidated Financial Statements: Contribute actively to the preparation of consolidated financial statements, helping to compile and review financial data for comprehensive reporting to stakeholders.
• Document Internal Controls and Procedures: Aid in the essential task of documenting internal control frameworks and accounting procedures, promoting adherence to best practices and operational consistency within the finance department.
• Support Financial Analysis Projects: Provide valuable assistance on diverse financial analysis projects as required, helping to research, compile, and interpret financial information for strategic initiatives.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree specifically in Accounting is a mandatory educational requirement for this position. Furthermore, candidates must possess a demonstrated high-level proficiency and comprehensive understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience gained directly within an accounting function is required for this role.
• Skills: Candidates must possess excellent verbal communication skills for clear interactions, strong interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration, superior written communication for documentation and reporting, and compelling presentation skills. A proven ability to function effectively as a collaborative team player, working seamlessly with various other functional groups within the organization, is also essential.
