Staff Accountant | HCA Healthcare

This is an in-person Staff Accountant role at HCA Healthcare, located in San Antonio, TX, specifically supporting the South Texas Radiology Imaging Centers (STRIC). This Staff Accountant role is vital in ensuring the financial accuracy and compliance of STRIC’s operations by managing month-end close entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with critical financial reporting processes.

• Mission: This person owns the responsibility for assigned month-end close entries, reconciliation of assigned balance sheet reconciliations, and assists with month-end processing to ensure financial accuracy.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Prepare reconciliation work related to accounts receivable accounts, including cash, refunds, and credit cards, while also assisting in month-end processes by updating various financial schedules and posting necessary journal entries.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts thoroughly, ensuring that all entries are supported by appropriate and comprehensive documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
• Financial Review: Assist in the careful review of general ledger accounts and other financial reports to meticulously assess their accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established reporting and STRIC policies.
• Inventory Management: Prepare year-to-date man hour trends and annual inventory entries, and coordinate and assist in the annual inventory counts conducted across all STRIC facilities.
• Reporting Support: Assist in compiling essential statistical, accounting, or auditing reports, and provide crucial support for the preparation of the annual budget and the comprehensive audit work papers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, providing foundational knowledge for an early-career accounting professional.
• Experience: 1 year of experience performing duties as an accountant, demonstrating practical application of accounting principles.
• Skills: Month-end close entries, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry posting, general ledger account review, financial report analysis, inventory management, and attention to detail.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s Degree specifically in Accounting is preferred.
