Staff Accountant | Jacques Marie Mage
The Tone:

Jacques Marie Mage is a Los Angeles-based producer specializing in the micro-production of limited-edition luxury eyewear, known for its unique use of precious materials, rich colors, and striking geometric forms. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records, from daily sales and inventory reconciliation to supporting comprehensive month-end and year-end closing procedures. The Staff Accountant plays a key part in maintaining robust financial health and providing reliable cash position reporting to management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of sales, inventory, and cash transactions to ensure accurate recording and reflection in the ledger.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Research and resolve cash reconciling items, chargebacks, payment discrepancies, and Purchase Order variances by working with relevant teams.
• Accounts Payable Support: Assist with the accounts payable process, including researching invoices, resolving vendor inquiries, reconciling statements, and preparing bill payments.
• Financial Closing: Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end close activities, focusing on balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Process Improvement: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger while actively identifying and supporting opportunities to enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational understanding of accounting principles, including U.S. GAAP.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with an affinity for working with data; ability to work independently as a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership.
• Skills: Strong organizational, time management, communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to accuracy and cross-departmental collaboration.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in accounting; strong knowledge of NetSuite.
