Staff Accountant | Sonesta International Hotels

As a Staff Accountant, you are essential to maintaining strong financial operations, which directly supports smooth hotel functioning and exceptional guest and employee experiences.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Accounting: Support daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll support, and cash management.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain financial reports, operational analyses, account reconciliations, and supporting accounting documentation.
• Month-End Processes: Assist with month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, operational reporting, and financial reporting deadlines.
• Transaction Review: Review financial transactions, invoices, expense reports, and operational records for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Collaborative Support: Partner closely with Finance leadership, Human Resources, Operations, and other hotel departments to support business operations and financial accuracy.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Hospitality Management preferred, with strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and operational accounting processes.
• Experience: 1+ years of accounting, hospitality finance, or hotel accounting experience preferred, including experience using hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, Excel, procurement systems, and financial reporting tools.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail focused on accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity.
• Bonus: CPA track, accounting certifications, or additional hospitality finance experience preferred; ability to multitask in a hospitality environment with a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented mindset.
