The Tone:
This is an early-career Staff Accountant role at a growing manufacturing company, located in Melville, Long Island, NY. The company builds manufacturing products and seeks a motivated individual to support its finance team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in core accounting functions and gain practical experience within a manufacturing environment. The role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting key accounting operations.

The TL;DR

• Mission: This person supports day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities to ensure accurate financial reporting in a manufacturing setting.
• Tech Stack: Excel, accounting software, ERP exposure (a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Operations: Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries and general ledger support.
• Month-End Close: Support month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and schedules.
• Account Reconciliation: Prepare and reconcile bank, balance sheet, and expense accounts.
• Manufacturing Accounting: Assist with inventory tracking, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related transactions.
• Financial Reporting Support: Support the preparation of financial reports and variance analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline with a basic understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience: 1–2 years of accounting experience, with internships or co-op experience considered, and familiarity with accounting software.
• Skills: Strong Excel skills, detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, time-management skills, communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Bonus: ERP exposure is a plus, along with an eagerness to learn and grow within an accounting team.
