Staff Accountant | Velox Clearing
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Velox Clearing, a firm operating within the financial services and securities industry. The company is a registered broker-dealer and clearing firm. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build a strong foundation in accounting while gaining hands-on experience. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the firm’s daily accounting and financial operations, providing exposure to a broad range of accounting functions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving outstanding items.
• Transaction Processing: Process and reconcile client deposits and withdrawals in coordination with operations and finance teams.
• Financial Reporting Support: Compile and process information for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Cash Management: Monitor and reconcile daily cash activity and cash flows in collaboration with other departments.
• Audit Assistance: Assist with the preparation of financial information and schedules for internal and external audits, responding to inquiries.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; strong understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles and internal controls. This is an early-career accounting professional role.
• Experience: Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with accounting/financial systems.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail; highly organized; strong written and verbal communication skills; self-motivated with integrity, reliability, and discretion; ability to identify problems and learn from mistakes; effective teamwork.
• Bonus: Previous accounting, finance, or internship experience; experience with financial services, banking, securities, or a broker-dealer; familiarity with SEC or FINRA rules and regulations; experience with account reconciliations or general ledger accounting; interest in pursuing the FINRA Series 99 registration.
