Staff Accountant – Entry Level | Robert Half

What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Keeping: Prepare and post journal entries accurately, directly contributing to the integrity of financial records. This includes assisting in the ongoing maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure balance and correctness.
• Financial Closing Support: Actively support key financial periods by assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, ensuring all necessary steps are completed on time.
• Data Analysis and Problem Solving: Analyze financial data comprehensively to identify any discrepancies, investigate their root causes, and effectively resolve identified issues to maintain data reliability.
• Compliance and Reporting: Collaborate with team members to ensure all financial activities and records comply with established accounting standards and regulations. This also involves contributing to the preparation of essential financial reports for various internal and external stakeholders.
• Operational Efficiency and Audits: Participate in internal and external audits by gathering and providing necessary documentation and explanations. Additionally, assist in monitoring financial transactions for accuracy and transparency, and contribute to implementing process improvements aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency of accounting operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An essential minimum qualification is a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, positioning the candidate for an entry-level career start in the accounting domain.
• Experience: Requires a strong foundational understanding of journal entries and general ledger processes. Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing relevant accounting software and Microsoft Excel is also critical for daily tasks.
• Skills: This role demands excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing financial information. Key soft skills include the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, coupled with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to address financial issues. Additionally, good communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary, along with familiarity with core accounting principles and practices.
