Staff Accountant | Trucordia

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Payroll Taxes: Manage daily processing of payroll taxes and tax deposits, including importing tax liabilities and reconciling payments due, and performing daily payroll tax audits.
• Maintain Tax Systems: Handle daily and quarterly maintenance and processes within MasterTax and other tax software.
• Conduct Tax Filings and Reconciliation: Complete monthly and quarterly tax processing and reconciliation, ensuring timely filings for withholding, unemployment, and other taxes across multiple states.
• Ensure Tax Compliance: Maintain accurate tax registrations and applications across local, regional, and state tax reporting entities to ensure full compliance.
• Support Financial Operations: Collaborate closely with the payroll department on accounts receivable, wires, and reversals, and contribute to the monthly close process.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Mathematics, providing a strong foundational knowledge in general accounting practices and tax laws.
• Experience: Demonstrated relevant experience in multi-state tax filings, particularly related to payroll taxes. This role offers a comprehensive experience, building on any prior foundational work.
• Skills: Good working knowledge of accounting practices and tax laws; accurate mathematical and accounting skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office, various tax systems, and database software; excellent verbal and written communication abilities; strong organizational and time management capabilities; meticulous attention to detail; and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality while working effectively within a team and potentially leading specific processes.
• Bonus: Prior professional experience specifically as a tax accountant, tax analyst, or tax preparer is preferred.
