Staff Accountant | Health Advocates Network

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Closing: Assist with crucial monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including the preparation of routine journal entries, workpapers for general ledger accounts, and supporting schedules for financial statements.
• Account Reconciliation & Variance Resolution: Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations and systematically reconcile balance sheet accounts such as cash, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets, diligently researching and resolving any discrepancies or variances in a timely manner.
• Asset & Payroll Ledger Management: Maintain the fixed asset ledger by accurately recording additions, disposals, and depreciation. Additionally, prepare payroll-related journal entries and reconcile associated payroll and benefit accounts.
• Financial Data Compilation & Analysis: Compile detailed financial data for management reporting, prepare in-depth account analyses and variance reports, and utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel for daily tasks.
• Compliance & Cross-Functional Support: Ensure strict compliance with company accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Also, provide essential support to the Accounts Payable team for vendor invoice review and coding, and the Accounts Receivable team for customer billing and cash application processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required. This role is suited for an entry-level professional seeking to apply core accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience working with spreadsheets and financial reports, specifically showcasing proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Skills: Proficient in both Microsoft Excel and general accounting software; possessing strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities; a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); and excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Also requires strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present financial information.
• Bonus: 0-2 years of accounting experience is preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate a highly motivated attitude, a willingness to be a team player, and the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with confidential information.
