This Staff Accountant role is a key position within a collaborative Finance team, crucial for supporting the music distribution, premium artist, and advertising business lines by ensuring accurate financial processes and contributing to core finance projects across various global teams within the SoundCloud Group. The position offers an opportunity to streamline and elevate accounting processes as the business evolves, with support from experienced colleagues.

• Pay: $70000–$75000 yearly
• Team: Collaborative Finance team, distributed across US and Berlin offices, collaborating closely with the US finance function and Berlin team members.
• Mission: This individual will manage key financial accounting processes for music distribution, premium artist, and advertising business lines, owning revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions to ensure accuracy and support business evolution.
• Tech Stack: MS Excel, ERP systems (Oracle Fusion is a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Closing: Manage comprehensive monthly and annual closing and reporting processes specifically for the distribution line of business.
• Revenue & Accounts Receivable Management: Take ownership of revenue recognition and all accounts receivable activities, which includes meticulously reconciling data between DSP reporting, SoundCloud’s royalties system, and the general ledger.
• Advance Payment Tracking: Accurately track and manage Cash and Marketing advance payments and their recoupments, ensuring that all recoupable expenses are correctly associated with the relevant artist accounts.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain precise and complete general ledger bookkeeping for all profit & loss and balance sheet items pertinent to the assigned business lines.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration & Invoicing: Partner effectively with the FP&A department and other global teams on accounting matters and projects, while also creating and processing outgoing customer invoices and booking associated cash receipts, as well as processing record label and music publishing invoices and payments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional with core domain knowledge in US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting principles.
• Experience: 1+ year of experience gained in an Accounting or Auditing role; experience within the Music industry is preferred.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Excel; good working knowledge of ERP systems; excellent analytical capabilities paired with a structured approach to work; and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment with a strong sense of initiative.
• Bonus: Prior experience utilizing Oracle Fusion ERP system.
