Staff Accountant | Monetary Metals & Co.

The Tone:

As a Staff Accountant, you will be a crucial contributor to the company’s financial operations, taking ownership of key accounting processes. This position is vital for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, directly supporting Monetary Metals’ continued growth and operational efficiency.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to the Controller.
• Mission: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation of all financial transactions and records, contributing to the solid financial foundation of a high-growth company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable Management: Receive, validate, and process vendor invoices, ensuring necessary internal approvals are secured before payment, and accurately maintain accounts payable records within the accounting system. You will also send remittances to vendors to ensure correct payment application.
• Bank Transaction Recording: Accurately and promptly record and classify all incoming and outgoing bank transactions into the company’s accounting system, ensuring proper categorization.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Actively maintain the general ledger by precisely posting journal entries, thoroughly reconciling various accounts, and updating all financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records, including proper classification and documentation.
• Financial Statement Assistance: Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, encompassing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to support financial reporting needs.
• External Audit Support: Provide comprehensive support for external audit processes by preparing and presenting documentation, performing reconciliations, offering clear explanations of accounting transactions, and promptly addressing all auditor inquiries.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, demonstrating a foundational understanding of core accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: Possess 2-4 years of hands-on accounting experience in a professional setting, having applied accounting knowledge to real-world financial operations.
• Skills: Exhibit a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, alongside excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and a strong attention to detail for accurate execution of responsibilities.
