The Tone:
This is a direct-hire, full-time role located on-site in Raleigh, NC, for an early-career Staff Accountant. The Planet Group is a recruiting agency seeking a dedicated individual to support the financial operations of one of their clients. This position is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of various financial statements and comprehensive reports for management review, ensuring data is presented clearly and precisely.
• General Ledger: Actively maintain and rigorously reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring data integrity, compliance with established accounting standards, and proper classification of all financial transactions.
• Account Reconciliation: Perform detailed and systematic reconciliations of bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records on a regular basis to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Journal Entries: Prepare, review, and post precise journal entries into the accounting system, particularly supporting the critical month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure all financial activity is accurately recorded.
• Process Support: Contribute significantly to the smooth execution of daily accounting operations, assist with internal and external audits, and actively participate in efforts to improve overall financial procedures and internal controls.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is a fundamental requirement. This is explicitly designated as a Junior Level role, and candidates demonstrating relevant accounting experience through co-op programs or internships will be given strong consideration.
• Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in an accounting function is required to ensure a foundational understanding of financial practices.
• Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); proficiency in general ledger management and accurate financial transaction categorization; demonstrated capability in performing detailed financial reconciliations for various accounts; competence in preparing and processing precise journal entries; and a keen eye for detail combined with analytical abilities for financial data review.
• Bonus: Prior experience within the Manufacturing Industry is highly preferred and will significantly enhance a candidate’s application, potentially placing them at the front of the hiring process.
