Staff Accountant | IEX

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at IEX, located in New York City. IEX is an exchange operator and technology company founded in 2012, dedicated to innovating for performance in capital markets. The company launched a new kind of securities exchange in 2016, built with a transparent business model and unique architecture designed to protect investors. This role is crucial as it supports core financial operations, including accounts payable, cash management, accounts receivable, and general accounting, especially during the significant period leading up to the opening of IEX’s innovative Options Exchange in October 2026. The Staff Accountant will play a key part in maintaining efficient and accurate financial processes for the company’s continued growth.

• Mission: This person ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and supports the company’s accounting functions, especially during rapid expansion.
• Tech Stack: Zip AP platform, Ramp platform, Avalara, NetSuite, Concur, Excel (Pivot tables, V-lookup, Count, Sum).

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable: Review, verify coding, and process invoices, managing discrepancies and compiling weekly payment runs within the Zip AP platform.
• Cash and Banking: Monitor daily bank and clearing firm deposit balances, record cash activity, and prepare vendor payments in the banking platform.
• Accounts Receivable: Assist with preparing and distributing customer invoices, applying cash receipts, and performing collection procedures for open invoices in NetSuite.
• Accounting Support: Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by recording journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and participating in audits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience: One or more years of experience in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills: Proficient user of Excel, including Pivot tables, V-lookup, Count, and Sum functions, along with strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Bonus: Experience with NetSuite, Concur, Zip, Ramp, and/or Avalara.
