The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role at TEAL BECKER & CHIARAMONTE CPAs, located in Albany, New York. The firm is a professional accounting firm that provides accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting services to a diverse range of clients, including privately held businesses, nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, employee benefit plans, estates, trusts, and individuals. This position is central to providing crucial accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting support across a varied client portfolio. What You’ll Actually Do
• Fieldwork: Perform comprehensive accounting and auditing fieldwork, which includes conducting client inquiries, applying analytical procedures, and executing detailed testing.
• Financial Statements & Filings: Assist actively with the preparation of financial statements and ensure accurate submission of required governmental and regulatory filings.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare federal and state income tax returns for a diverse set of entities, including corporations, individuals, partnerships, fiduciaries, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.
• Accounting Operations: Execute fundamental accounting functions such as bookkeeping, precise account reconciliations, and other basic accounting tasks.
• Professional Development & Support: Participate in firm-directed continuing professional education and on-the-job training, actively pursuing CPA certification while contributing to client engagements, internal projects, and networking activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field, demonstrating a basic knowledge of accounting principles and fundamental concepts.
• Experience: Possess 150 relevant credit hours that meet the requirements for the CPA examination, and a demonstrated interest in actively pursuing a CPA career path.
• Skills: Exhibit strong computer and technical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and strong interpersonal and client-service skills. Display highly organized and detail-oriented work habits, energy, motivation, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining strong integrity and confidentiality.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in Taxation (MST) or Accounting (MSA) or a related discipline, progress toward CPA certification, prior internship or experience in public accounting, and familiarity with federal and state tax compliance. Experience with nonprofit, governmental, corporate, partnership, or individual tax clients, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and an interest in developing long-term expertise across various accounting services.
