Staff Accountant | Towne Park

• Team: Supports the company’s broader finance department, specifically contributing to general accounting, business license, and tax processes. Works closely with other finance, treasury, accounting, and operation teams.
• Mission: To ensure strict compliance with business licensing and tax regulations, maintain accurate financial records through meticulous account reconciliations and journal entries, and provide reliable financial reporting that supports company operations.
• Tech Stack: Proficient use of MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, alongside various company-specific accounting technology applications.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Reconciliation: Methodically prepare monthly reconciliations for various financial accounts, including bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger and sub-ledger accounts, actively identifying, researching, and resolving any reconciling differences.
• Journal Entry Management: Accurately prepare and post journal entries in strict adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and established company policies and procedures, always ensuring comprehensive and precise supporting documentation.
• Customer Financial Operations: Skillfully prepare and review customer invoices, often requiring coordination with multiple internal departments, analyze and investigate variances against expectations, and diligently apply customer payments from diverse sources like checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit card transactions to respective accounts.
• Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Take responsibility for the preparation and filing of sales tax and other required regulatory reports, while also undertaking research into various tax and licensing issues to ensure continuous compliance.
• Audit & Internal Control Support: Provide essential assistance during annual audits by preparing necessary schedules and documentation and responding to auditor requests, alongside ensuring unwavering compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and company procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field, demonstrating a strong foundational knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and the practical ability to apply general accounting theory to daily processes.
• Experience: Requires one to three years of practical work experience specifically in account reconciliation and general ledger accounting functions.
• Skills: Exhibit strong analytical skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a proven aptitude for problem-solving; maintain confidentiality; demonstrate computer proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and various accounting technology applications; possess effective written and verbal communication skills; and be capable of researching tax and licensing issues.
• Bonus: A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is preferred.
