The Tone:
This is a full-time role at NewStore, offering a remote-first working environment with flexibility. NewStore is on a mission to redefine retail, creating a seamless, app-based omnichannel experience that empowers brands in over 40 countries to run their entire stores on an iPhone. This Staff Accountant position is key to the global accounting team, supporting daily operations and ensuring a smooth, efficient month-end close. The role focuses on driving process improvements with an emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and operational discipline, offering significant growth opportunities for an individual passionate about leveraging technology in accounting.

• Team: Global Accounting team, reporting to the Corporate Controller
• Mission: Support accurate and timely financial reporting while improving accounting processes across global entities.
• Tech Stack: NetSuite, Excel, Google Sheets, Microsoft tools, Google Workspace tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations and Close: Support day-to-day accounting operations across a global team, while actively contributing to key areas of the month-end close to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial results to maintain a high standard of accuracy and completeness.
• Audit Coordination: Support the annual audit process, including helping prepare deliverables and responding to auditor requests, in partnership with the Corporate Controller.
• GAAP Compliance: Partner with the team to ensure US and Local GAAP compliance across global entities, reviewing key areas and escalating complex issues as needed.
• Efficiency & Technology: Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to improvements, leveraging automation and technology to enhance accuracy and efficiency, while learning and applying best practices for accounting processes.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with finance and other teams to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with accounting processes, assisting with ad hoc projects as necessary.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional with an understanding of US GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience: 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, ability to learn quickly, and strong interpersonal skills with a team-first mindset.
• Bonus: Public accounting experience, CPA certified or actively pursuing, experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems, and exposure to multiple entities or international subsidiaries.
